Building a custom home presents you with excitement, inspiration, and lots of challenges. Putting up your dream team consisting of a builder, architect, interior designer, and landscaping planner is among the first hurdles. There’ll be hundreds of decisions to make, some of them in conflict with each team member.
This concern is not an issue with Studio G Architecture where everything operates in perfect synergy. In the Las Vegas luxury real estate scene, few can match the unique creative talent of Michael Gardner, Studio G Architecture founder, whom we feature in this article.
Custom Home Designs by Studio G Architecture
Michael Gardner’s company takes a holistic approach to design where the process is property line to property line. With everything done under one umbrella with a team of in-house professionals and managed consultants, their clients just need to work with them. The company manages all the activities for the client.
Studio G Architecture started small. They were involved in two to three home-building projects at a time when the luxury market was moving away from Mediterranean-style homes and adopting a more contemporary style.
Gardner’s track record of quality homes paved the way for his success, mostly through word-of-mouth. Today, his reputation is widely known throughout the country. He eventually ventured into commercial work as well. Two of his current projects are a high-rise building in Nashville, Tennessee, and the renovation into a boutique hotel of a historic New Orleans, Louisiana building.
Gardner has found a niche in custom homes, which is about half of his company’s current projects. He sees enormous potential in Old Vegas neighborhoods near downtown, an area rich in character. Gardner was chosen by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) to design and build the New American Remodel at 2720 Pinto Lane. The home remodel project will involve redeveloping a 1950s ranch house incorporating a mix of traditional, modern, and unconventional design elements.
Gardner is preserving part of the home’s exterior walls and adding a complementary two-story structure. He calls the process “responsible design.” Features of the remodeled home include clean lines, ambient daylight, and a full turnaround driveway that utilizes the full 1.3-acre lot. The presence of an orchard and chickens will make the property sustainable in a certain sense.
The New American remodel officially debuted at the NAHB Builders’ Show in February 2019. It is expected to be certified for several green initiatives. Gardner hopes that the property will trigger a new era of home design in that area of Las Vegas, considered historic but somewhat neglected. He also wishes that part of his legacy as an architect is leaving a mark on the community to make it a better place for the incoming generations.
